Korea–Mexico defense and police memoranda set separate paths, with operations unproven

The Korea–Mexico summit produced distinct defense and police cooperation memoranda. The public plan outlines dialogue, information sharing and possible industrial work, while President Lee described ambitions for equipment production and transnational crime cooperation. Neither source documents a weapons contract, joint investigation or operational data-sharing protocol.

Beyond Video of the Year, six VMA craft prizes went to five videos

The 2026 MTV VMAs named Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” Video of the Year, but their six professional craft categories told a wider visual story. Direction, art direction, cinematography, editing, choreography and visual effects were spread across five different works. MTV labels these categories non-votable, so their results should not be read as another audience poll or as a sweep by the top-video winner.

San Sebastián’s youth jury chose a documentary after a 21-film voting programme

Alessandra Sanguinetti’s The Illusion of an Everlasting Summer won the 74th San Sebastián festival’s DAMA Youth Award. The festival says 150 jurors aged 18 to 25 voted after screenings across a 21-film programme drawn from New Directors and eligible Horizontes Latinos entries. Its published score of 9.32 describes the youth poll; the award is distinct from the official jury’s prizes and the Perlak audience vote.

Uchibo replacement buses await vehicles as JR names no start date

JR East said on September 29 that it was still trying to secure buses for the suspended Anegasaki–Kisarazu section. Its rail notice gives no substitute-bus start date, timetable or capacity; extra highway buses listed by another operator serve different routes.

Sony says God of War Laufey pre-orders open September 29 at 10 a.m. local time ahead of a February 16, 2027 PS5 release. Its announcement distinguishes bonuses for advance purchases from the Digital Deluxe package, and notes that physical Standard Edition buyers receive the bonus through a download code requiring a PlayStation account and internet access.

IEA's 95-million-barrel August stock draw hides opposite regional moves

The IEA estimates that observed global oil inventories fell by 95 million barrels in August, but the components moved in different directions: oil on water and non-OECD stocks declined while OECD stocks rose. The distinction matters because a higher OECD total did not reverse the worldwide draw or prove that fuel was available where shortages were most acute.

Korea and Mexico put APEC AI review on 2028 agenda, but measures await detail

A Korea–Mexico action plan links their bilateral diplomacy to Mexico's 2028 APEC host year, calling for a midpoint check on the regional AI initiative. APEC had already endorsed the 2026–2030 initiative and set annual review channels. The summit text adds a shared intention to cooperate; it does not identify a joint AI project, budget or completed assessment.

Ekurhuleni killings: an arrest, a viral accusation and an unlinked death

South African police have reported an arrest in one Tembisa cemetery killing, rejected an unsubstantiated social-media accusation against another man, and found no preliminary link between a later fatal robbery and the Ekurhuleni cases. Dated official statements show why those separate findings cannot yet be treated as one solved investigation.

Adam Lambert joined George Michael VMA tribute after three singers were announced

CBS and MTV announced a three-singer George Michael tribute for the 2026 VMAs, but CBS's post-show photo captions document Adam Lambert alongside RAYE, sombr and Teddy Swims. Vogue's event report records the songs and sombr's use of a jacket associated with Michael's 1988 tour. The archival photograph accompanying this article is from 2012, not the VMA stage.

Bryce Lovett’s SEC honor spotlights protection behind Florida’s 52 points

Florida left tackle Bryce Lovett was named the SEC’s offensive lineman of the week after the Gators beat Ole Miss 52–28 on September 26. Florida’s postgame account credits him with no pressure allowed across 69 snaps and says the line gave up no sacks. The official box score confirms zero sacks against quarterback Aaron Philo and 302 rushing yards, but those team totals cannot be assigned to one blocker alone. The award adds an offensive-line angle to a result often told through its runners.

Mike Leigh’s Golden Shell marks a film, while two other San Sebastián prizes name its artists

Tender Loving Care won the 74th San Sebastián festival’s Golden Shell for Best Film, while Mike Leigh received the jury’s screenplay prize and Kate O’Flynn shared the leading performance Silver Shell. The festival’s own rules distinguish an award for a producer from awards for individual work, and its catalogue confirms the film’s UK production and credits without establishing a release date for viewers.

Why US diesel stocks can shrink while fuel exports remain high

EIA forecasts U.S. distillate stocks below 100 million barrels in September and below their five-year low through 2026, even as exports respond to a global diesel squeeze. IEA figures show sharply reduced Gulf product shipments. The outlook for easing diesel margins assumes restored Hormuz traffic; these forecasts do not establish today's pump price or a certain date for relief.

South Korea and Mexico agreed at their September 24 summit to resume an economic, scientific and technical cooperation committee, with annual meetings beginning in Korea in 2027. Their action plan also calls for regular foreign-ministry policy consultations. The published documents identify diplomatic channels and a letter of intent, but give no date, agenda or record of a first committee meeting.

JR East’s notice dated September 28, 2026 says travellers who abandon a trip because of Typhoon 25 disruption can obtain a no-fee refund for an unused ticket that starts, ends or passes through the suspended Anegasaki–Kisarazu section of the Uchibo Line. The notice applies to travel dated September 28, directs station purchases to a JR counter and sends agency products back to the seller. Already-used tickets require advice from station staff.

FC 27 on Steam: friend discovery improves, but lobby access still has conditions

EA says FC 27 shortens some Steam launch flows and makes Steam friends visible through EA Connect. Its reported launch gain of about 50% applies to some tested PC configurations, while EA's own help still requires players to check requests, cross-play settings and mode support before joining a lobby.

Korea–Mexico development forum targets late 2027, with projects still undefined

The Korea–Mexico action plan schedules a new international development forum for the second half of 2027 and lists a foreign-ministry memorandum on its creation. The published text sets a discussion remit covering Latin America and the Caribbean, while leaving project partners, budgets and a meeting venue unspecified. Mexico’s own foreign policy programme supports deeper ties with Korea but does not establish that a regional project is underway.
