Belmont University's Fisher Center will host a Dolly Parton television tribute after serving as the venue for her musical's world premiere. The university says CMA's two-hour live special on October 21 extends a relationship that also created DOLLY U, its entertainment education partnership.

Uncertainty

The September 16 announcement recalls the 2025 premiere of DOLLY: A True Original Musical and students working alongside artists, producers and professionals. It does not say which student roles, if any, will carry into the television production.

Robert Deaton is executive producer of the programme, which will combine performances, archive material and personal stories. The announced U.S. ABC slot is 9-11 p.m. EDT, with Disney+ distribution and Hulu availability the following day.

Uncertainty

CMA and Belmont pledge a donation from proceeds to Imagination Library. The release gives no amount and leaves performers and ticket details for later announcements, distinguishing the plan from a completed fundraiser.

Japan's actors' union had already urged performers to check six issues in AI voice contracts, including training, reuse, pay and data storage, before the Tokyo District Court ruled in Kenjiro Tsuda's TikTok case. The court recognized a conditional publicity-rights principle for voices but dismissed the deletion request because the videos were gone; it did not decide that this particular audio infringed his rights.

Beyond Video of the Year, six VMA craft prizes went to five videos

The 2026 MTV VMAs named Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” Video of the Year, but their six professional craft categories told a wider visual story. Direction, art direction, cinematography, editing, choreography and visual effects were spread across five different works. MTV labels these categories non-votable, so their results should not be read as another audience poll or as a sweep by the top-video winner.
