CNN flight exclusion highlights limits of restored press access
AP's dated account separates White House credentials from the network television pool's travel role.
Restored White House credentials did not settle CNN's access to presidential travel. An Associated Press report, published September 25 and updated September 26, said Friday-night guidance replaced CNN with Real America's Voice for Donald Trump's Saturday flight to Knoxville.
AP distinguished the flight from the television pool's return earlier Friday. Five major broadcasters rotate filming duties and share footage; Real America's Voice is outside that group. A seat being occupied therefore does not establish that the network pool's coverage has resumed.
The White House had not answered AP's request for further details at the report's update. Separately, the White House Correspondents' Association argued on September 19 that excluding outlets over their reporting threatens public scrutiny. That earlier statement is background, not a response to the flight decision. These are dated reports, not confirmation of who ultimately boarded.
